Apple Valley
As we headed toward Pahalgam, Apple Valley greeted us with its serene charm. While the apples weren’t in season during our March visit, the sight of the sprawling orchards against a backdrop of towering mountains still left us in awe. Even though we couldn’t pick fresh apples, the valley had a welcoming vibe. The fresh air and the quiet of the valley made this stop a soothing experience.
One of the highlights was discovering a small shop where we enjoyed freshly squeezed apple juice. The young boy making the juice with a vintage juicer captured our hearts. It was the sweetest, most refreshing drink, and it felt like a true taste of the valley! We even made friends with some local kids, whose laughter and stories made the moment extra special.

Kesar Land
Our next stop was Kesar Land, famous for its vibrant saffron fields. Even though we didn’t visit the fields directly, the surrounding beauty and the opportunity to shop for genuine saffron made the stop worthwhile. The local shop was brimming with saffron-infused products like perfume (Ator), oil, face wash, and tea, each item adding a touch of luxury to our collection of souvenirs.
The shopkeeper was knowledgeable, sharing intriguing details about saffron cultivation and its many benefits, though I admit we forgot some of them in the excitement!

Is Kesar Expensive?
Surprisingly, saffron wasn’t as expensive as we thought! You can find small amounts of high-quality saffron for $10 to $30, depending on the packaging and quality. While it’s a bit of an investment, the rich flavor and vibrant color of genuine Kashmiri saffron are well worth it. It’s also the perfect souvenir to take home, capturing the essence of the region.
Are These Two Places Worth the Trip?
Without a doubt! Visiting both Apple Valley and Kesar Land offers a blend of natural beauty and cultural richness. Whether it’s sipping fresh apple juice in a serene orchard or learning about the art of saffron, these stops add depth and delight to the Kashmir experience.
