I Adopt a Cat in Cambodia back on the 27th of June, 2024 (Simbaaaa, 3 months old then).

I didn’t go through the entire adoption process myself because I adopted Simbaa from the roadside. However, a colleague of mine went through the entire process, and I learned a lot from him. I gained valuable insights into many things that aren’t commonly known.

Cannot Skip

Cat Trees and Scratching Posts: We all know that cats love to scratch due to their nature, so these are very useful to have if you are adopting a cat indoors.

Cat Toys: Keep your cat entertained with interactive toys like feather wands, laser pointers, or catnip-filled toys. If you adopt a cat, it will need something to keep it entertained in your absence. When you are home, make sure to play with your cat to strengthen your bond.

Cat Carriers: If your cat gets bored at home and you go outside but can’t take him/her with you because he/she might get scared and run away, a secure and comfy carrier is essential for trips to the vet or traveling. During the first 7 days after adopting your cat, you generally won’t need to take him/her outside.

Cat Litter Boxes: To avoid your cat using your furniture, balcony, or bed as a toilet, train your cat to use the litter box from the first day. Consider self-cleaning or covered litter boxes to make managing waste easier and avoid future hassles.
